It is located in the North of the Sierra de Gredos
The Almanzor hostel is located in the North of the Sierra de Gredos, at an altitude of about 1560m, which determines a mountain climate.
Hot summers that hardly reach 30º, with always cool nights. Winters with low temperatures, snow, ice … and also many sunny days. Autumn is usually mild and pleasant. Spring a little cooler and later, between mid-May and all of June.
The Pinar de Navarredonda, the Gorges of Valdeascas or El Cuervo, the highest area of the RÍO TORMES, together with its source or with Las Chorreras. Around all these places there are innumerable routes of high mycological, ornithological, botanical or simply scenic value and in some of them there are pools of crystalline waters where you can enjoy a delicious bath in summer.
2 routes to the north of the Almanzor Hostel that lead to the Riscos de Cabeza Castaño and Piedra Aguda, which are geodesic vertex, from which an impressive panoramic view of the Massif Central de Gredos can be contemplated.
From there, most of the climbs to the most spectacular peaks and spaces of the Sierra begin: El Almanzor, El Morezón, La Galana, La Mira, etc … or for those who do not want to climb much, La Panoramica del Circo de Gredos from Alto de Los Barrerones.
We are 45 minutes from Ávila, 1:30 hours from Segovia, less than 2 hours from Toledo or Salamanca, 1:30 hours from Monfragüe Natural Park, 45 minutes from Valle del Jerte, 2 hours from Cáceres … We also want to highlight the magnificent situation in which the Hostal Almanzor is located for the contemplation of the night sky.
In 2013, the Northern Gredos area obtained the STARLIGHT CERTIFICATION, which makes us one of the few privileged enclaves in Spain for stargazing. From the terrace of the hostel you can enjoy a perfect sky without any light pollution.
